Coley Tatting Collection

Marked by the the textures of time, the Coley Tatting Collection celebrates much more than what may be seen on the surface. Each piece invites us to reflect on stories of the past and the women who came before. Inspired by fragments of tatting created at the hands of Melissa Coley, who made her southern journey in 1891 in a carriage led by horses.

She was a former New Yorker, a well read scholar turned teacher, and a new bride.  Coley was also the great grandmother of Melissa Reddick, founder of Modern History Clay Works.  Paired with precious fragments of Coley's tatting are lines formed by the grooves of a wooden rolling pin, delicate buttons that once adorned Sunday dresses, and the teeth of a sterling monogrammed comb.

Richly glazed in a smoky green/blue hue and finished with a sparkling gold luster trim, each piece is as treasured as the stories it has to tell.
